Sylvan Pattern Scenic dinner plate by William Brownfield and Son circa 1875-78. This lovely polychrome plate measuring 9 1/2” is in very good condition for a 140+ year old plate. No cracks or chips found, but there are light utensil marks and the gilt edge is thin in some places. The bottom is trademarked W.B. & Son under the English registry diamond dating the plate design to June 1875. The No 6 at the diamond probably designates the scene number. There is an impressed Brownfield, a 9/78 date, along with the Sylvan pattern name in a banner, and “The Monarch Of The Glen” name of the plate scene.
